A miniature working automaton of a dodgem ride, comlete with real sparking conductors. The goal was to make the cars move in a randomish sort of way but not bunch, yet all go in one basic direction like the real thing. Julian Spalding commissioned one for The Fire Gallery at The Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow. To give an idea of scale the cars are 13cm long. Figures by Molly Fletcher.

Below is a video of the one we made, especially themed, for Marvin's Marvellous Mechanicam Museum in Detroit USA. Marvin wanted a 1950s theme, he's the one with the quiff with his girlfriend Pete in one of the cars (he's in his 80s the old rascal)
