My part was to design and make a mechainism to open the mouth, curl the lip
and rapidly extend the tongue. For Dr Who Time and the Rani. I had the pleasure
of being the operator too in a quarry, where else? see the actual moment below
I was given a box of Dalek bits and asked to rebuild it, which was like restoring an old motor car. It featured a new way of making the mesh 'collar' - instead of jagged aluminium which had always presented a hazard, the designer asked me to devise
a way of printing it on plaztizote. It was used in the episode Remembrance of the Daleks. I was told after the shoot that it had been blown to bits. This I always beleived was its fate until recently a Dr Who fan contacted me to ask making a Dalek, as amazingly, every one ever made is catalogued. He subsequently informed me that it was indeed still around and kindly sent me a picture (below)
